Microbrasion Facials

Take a sandblaster, follow it with a vacuum cleaner, and what do you get? The muchrepeated description of a microbrasion facial, also known as power peel, diamond peel, Parisian peel, and microderm peel. No matter what it’s called, this treatment features a small tube-like device that sprays aluminum crystals, diamond dust, or salt (depending on the machine) across the skin to lift off dead skin cells and the outermost layer of the epidermis. A suctioning action simultaneously sweeps away exfoliated skin cells and the used abrasive material.

You may experience pinkness and chappin9 for a day or two after a microbrasion treatment, but nothing obvious.

If this sounds a bit unpleasant, it is. For many people, however, the treatment’s slight discomfort is worth the payoff. This includes softening of acne pock-marks and other scars, lightening of dark patches and freckles, and removal of fine lines. Because their effects are cumulative, microbrasion facials are usually performed in a series of six to ten appointments; every week, or every other week, you return for a slightly stronger treatment.
